In less than 2 years, young rapper oLamide, has gained attention with
just one single ‘Eni duro’ which was accompanied by a very creative
video and subsequently, his debut album ‘Rapsodi‘.
While most of the
other ‘Yoruba-lingo’ speaking rappers were struggling to outclass the
late Dagrin‘s style, oLamide took on another lane and distinguished
himself. His debut single and video played a major role in creating an
image for himself. Props should also go to DJ Tee for the brilliant
video directing in ‘Eni duro‘.
But if the Coded Tunes rapper thought
he could relive the experience once again with the video to ‘Omo to
shan’ which features Wizkid, then he should hold video director DJ Tee
responsible for killing any possible chance. ‘Omo to shan‘ could have
been the next big hit if only DJ Tee hadn’t bungled it.
The video to
the second single lacks direction and concept. One would wonder what
was going through DJ Tee’s mind when he was shooting the video. The
story starts out right from the beginning then takes a sharp left in
the lane of mediocrity. Make up – poor, camera handling – poor. A
‘Tales By Moonlight‘ episode would win an award over this.
